Claims18
A method of determining a human subject's risk of developing schizophrenia, the method comprising determining a ceramide kinase gene (CERK) haplotype of the subject, wherein the CERK haplotype comprises alleles of single nucleotide polymorphisms rs135667 and rs1548977, and the subject has an increased risk of developing schizophrenia when the haplotype comprises a “G” allele at said single nucleotide polymorphism rs135667 and an “A” allele at said single nucleotide polymorphism rs1548977, and the subject has a decreased risk of developing schizophrenia when the haplotype comprises a “G” allele at said single nucleotide polymorphism rs135667 and a “G” allele at said single nucleotide polymorphism rs1548977.
