Abstract
According to one aspect of the present invention, a palladium-containing oxidation catalyst is provided. In one embodiment, the palladium-containing oxidation catalyst includes a first zone having a first PGM catalyst loading with a platinum (Pt) to palladium (Pd) weight ratio of no greater than 10.0; and a second zone disposed next to the first zone. In another embodiment, the second PGM catalyst loading has a palladium (Pd) to platinum (Pt) weight ratio of no greater than 4.0.
Claims10
An oxidation catalyst comprising:
- a first zone containing palladium (Pd) and having a first platinum group metal (PGM) catalyst loading with a platinum (Pt) to Pd weight ratio of 1.5 to 2.5;
- and
- a second zone disposed next to the first zone and having a second PGM catalyst loading less than the first PGM catalyst loading.
A method of removing waste materials in the exhaust of a combustion engine, comprising:
- contacting the exhaust with an oxidation catalyst to form a treated exhaust, wherein the oxidation catalyst includes a first zone containing palladium (Pd) and having a first platinum group metal (PGM) catalyst loading with a platinum (Pt) to Pd weight ratio of 1.5 to 2.5, and a second zone disposed next to the first zone and having a second PGM catalyst loading less than the first PGM catalyst loading.
