Abstract
A device for generating power from a locomotion energy associated with leg muscles acting across an ankle joint. The device including: a cuff worn on the leg; a shoe; an energy absorbing element operatively connected to the cuff and shoe for absorbing energy during one or more periods of a periodic motion of the joint in which energy is absorbed by the muscles.
Claims4
A device for generating power from a locomotion energy associated with leg muscles acting across an ankle joint, the device comprising:
- a cuff configured to be worn on the leg;
- a shoe;
- and
- an energy absorbing element being configured to engage the cuff and shoe to absorb mechanical energy from the locomotion energy only during one or more intervals of a cycle of motion of the joint where the leg muscles would otherwise be doing work to absorb mechanical energy from the locomotion energy.
