Abstract
The invention provides seed and plants of carrot hybrid 07100375 and the parent lines thereof. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of carrot hybrid 07100375 and the parent lines thereof, and to methods for producing a carrot plant produced by crossing such plants with themselves or with another carrot plant, such as a plant of another genotype. The invention further relates to seeds and plants produced by such crossing. The invention further relates to parts of such plants, including the roots and gametes of such plants.
Claims25
A carrot plant comprising at least a first set of the chromosomes of carrot line RDP 71-4969C, a sample of seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-10352.
A seed comprising at least a first set of the chromosomes of carrot line RDP 71-4969C, a sample of seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-10352.
A method of introducing a desired trait into a carrot line comprising:
- (a) crossing a plant of line RDP 71-4969C, a sample of seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-10352, with a second carrot plant that comprises a desired trait to produce F1 progeny;
- (b) selecting an F1 progeny that comprises the desired trait;
- (c) crossing the selected F1 progeny with a plant of line RDP 71-4969C to produce backcross progeny;
- and
- (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) three or more times to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny that comprise the desired trait.
A method of producing a plant comprising a transgene, the method comprising introducing a transgene into a plant of hybrid 07100375 or line RDP 71-4969C, a sample of seed of said hybrid and line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-10353 and ATCC Accession Number PTA-10352, respectively.
A method for producing a seed of a plant derived from hybrid 07100375 or line RDP 71-4969C comprising the steps of:
- (a) crossing a carrot plant of hybrid 07100375 or line RDP 71-4969C with a second carrot plant;
- a sample of seed of said hybrid and line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-10353 and ATCC Accession Number PTA-10352, respectively;
- and
- (b) allowing seed of a hybrid 07100375 or line RDP 71-4969C-derived carrot plant to form.
