Abstract
Methods and systems for reducing mercury emissions from fluid streams having a high concentration of sulfur oxide species are provided herein. In embodiments, mercury is removed from flue gas streams containing sulfur trioxide (SO3) by injecting a dry admixture of a porous mercury adsorptive material and at least one dry agent into the flue gas stream.
Claims20
A method for removing mercury from flue gas streams containing sulfur trioxide (SO3) comprising injecting into the flue gas stream a dry admixture of a porous mercury adsorptive material and at least one dry agent selected from the group consisting of ammonium halides, amine halides, and quaternary ammonium halides, wherein the dry admixture has a mean particle diameter of less than or equal to about 12 μm.
