Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided plants and plant parts of the variety designated GSV682287. The invention also relates to methods for using a GSV682287 plant to produce various plants and plant parts.
Claims20
A seed of sorghum variety GSV682287, wherein representative sample of said seed was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-11199.
A method of producing a plant of sorghum variety GSV682287 comprising an added desired trait, the method comprising introducing a transgene conferring the desired trait into a plant of sorghum variety GSV682287, representative seed of said sorghum variety was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-11199.
A method of introducing a single locus conversion into sorghum variety GSV682287 comprising:
- (a) crossing a sorghum plant of variety GSV682287, wherein representative sample of seed of said sorghum variety was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-11199, with a second plant comprising a desired single locus to produce F1 progeny plants;
- (b) selecting one or more F1 progeny plants that have the single locus;
- (c) crossing the one or more selected F1 progeny plants with at least a first plant of sorghum variety GSV682287 to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting backcross progeny plants that have the single locus and essentially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of sorghum variety GSV682287 listed in Table 1;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) [the crossing of the one or more selected F1 progeny plants step and the selecting of backcross progeny plants step] one or more times in succession to produce selected second or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the single locus and essentially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of sorghum variety GSV682287 listed in Table 1 when grown in the same environmental conditions.
A plant of sorghum variety GSV682287, further defined as comprising a single locus conversion, wherein representative sample of seed of said sorghum variety was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-11199.
A method of producing an inbred sorghum plant derived from the sorghum variety GSV682287, the method comprising the steps of:
- (a) preparing a progeny plant derived from sorghum variety GSV682287, wherein representative sample of seed of said sorghum variety was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-11199, by crossing a plant of the sorghum variety GSV682287 with a plant of a second variety;
- (b) crossing the progeny plant with itself or a second plant to produce a seed of a progeny plant of a subsequent generation;
- (c) growing a progeny plant of a subsequent generation from said seed and crossing the progeny plant of said subsequent generation with itself or a second plant;
- and
- (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) for an additional three or more generations with sufficient inbreeding to produce an inbred sorghum plant derived from the sorghum variety GSV682287.
