Degradable compositions, apparatus comprising same, and method of use

A system for temporarily preventing fluid flow within a wellbore, comprising:

• a tubular member having a bore formed therethrough;
• a support member secured within an inner surface of the tubular member, the support member being transverse a longitudinal axis of the bore;
• and
• a temporary plug disposed within the support member, the plug comprising:
• a disc-shaped body;
• and
• two or more tapered fins extending from the body, wherein the fins are tapered from a first end distal the body to a second end proximal the body,
• wherein the body and the fins extending therefrom are made from a composition that at least partially degrades when exposed to a fluid at wellbore conditions, the composition comprising one or more reactive metals in major proportion, and at least one alloying element in minor proportion.

A temporary plug for use in a wellbore comprising:

• a cylindrical body;
• and
• two or more tapered fins extending from the body, wherein the fins are tapered from a first end distal the body to a second end proximal the body,
• wherein the body and the fins extending therefrom are made from a composition that at least partially degrades when exposed to a fluid at wellbore conditions, the composition comprising one or more reactive metals in major proportion, and at least one alloying element in minor proportion;
• and
• an inert component disposed on at least a portion of the body, the fins, or both.
