Proportional pilot-controlled pneumatic control system for pneumatically powered hand-held tools

A power tool system comprising:

• a hand-held power tool for powering of a hammer tool, the power tool including—
• a first segment for receipt of a user's hand and including a first hollowed chamber,
• a second segment including a second hollowed chamber fluidly isolated from the first hollowed chamber, and
• a piston housed within the second hollowed chamber and operable to drive the hammer tool;
• a control line in fluid communication with a control system and the first hollowed chamber and operable to supply pressurized air to the first hollowed chamber;
• a control point fluidly connected to the first hollowed chamber for selective expulsion of the pressurized air supplied by the control system;
• and
• a supply line extending from a pressurized air source and to the second hollowed chamber and operable to drive the piston,
• wherein the control point comprises an orifice formed in the first segment of the power tool and fluidly connected with the first chamber of the power tool,
• wherein the power tool further includes a resilient flapper overlaying the orifice,
• wherein depression of the flapper directly affects an amount of air exhausted from the orifice,
• wherein an underside of the resilient flapper includes at least one lifting protrusion that raises the flapper away from the orifice, such that the flapper does not completely close off the orifice unless the flapper is depressed by the user.
