Abstract
A coating composition for a food or beverage can that includes an emulsion polymerized latex polymer formed by combining an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component with an aqueous dispersion of a water-dispersible polymer.
Claims21
An article, comprising:
- a body portion or end portion of a food or beverage can comprising a metal substrate;
- and
- a coating composition disposed on an inside surface thereon comprising an emulsion polymerized latex polymer that (i) is substantially free of bound bisphenol A and aromatic glycidyl ether compounds and (ii) comprises the reaction production of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component batch polymerized in the presence of an aqueous dispersion of a polymer salt, wherein the ethylenically unsaturated monomer component comprises a mixture of monomers that includes at least one oxirane functional group-containing monomer.
