The invention relates to a strip of towel material for use in a towel dispenser, which strip has a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction and has been wound onto a roller, or has been folded along folding lines extending in the transverse direction and spaced apart in the longitudinal direction, such that a stack has been obtained, wherein the strip is provided with at least one electronically readable marking.

A strip of towel material for use in a towel dispenser, which strip has a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction and has been folded along folding lines extending in the transverse direction, creating sheets that are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction, such that a stack has been obtained, wherein the strip is provided with a plurality of electronically readable markings that is integrated into or disposed on discrete sheets of the strip at locations that are spatially separated in the longitudinal direction of the strip.
