Abstract
A strobe offset control circuit is disclosed. The control circuit comprises a strobe signal input to receive a strobe signal and a data receiver to receive a data signal in response to a sample signal derived from the strobe signal. A calibration enable input is provided to receive a calibration enable signal. The calibration enable signal places the strobe offset control circuit in one of a calibration mode or a receiver mode. In the calibration mode, a phase offset between the data signal and the sample signal is adjusted based on output from the receiver. In the receiver mode, the phase offset between the data signal and the sample signal is not adjusted based on output from the receiver.
Claims23
A strobe offset control circuit, comprising:
- a strobe signal input to receive a strobe signal;
- a data receiver to receive a data signal in response to a sample signal derived from the strobe signal;
- and
- a calibration enable input to receive a calibration enable signal, the calibration enable signal placing the strobe offset control circuit in one of a calibration mode or a receiver mode;
- wherein in the calibration mode, a phase offset between the data signal and the sample signal is adjusted based on output from the receiver;
- and
- wherein in the receiver mode, the phase offset between the data signal and the sample signal is not adjusted based on output from the receiver.
A method performed by a circuit in a memory system, comprising:
- receiving a strobe signal;
- generating a sample signal from the strobe signal;
- and
- receiving a data signal from a memory device using a receiver clocked by the sample signal;
- wherein the circuit is configurable to operate in one of a calibration mode and a receiver mode, the method further comprising:
- in the calibration mode, adjusting a phase offset between the data signal and the sample signal based on output from the receiver;
- and
- in the receiver mode, outputting read data sampled by the receiver.
A timing reference control circuit, comprising:
- a timing signal input to receive a timing reference signal;
- a data receiver to receive a data signal in response to a sample signal derived from the timing reference signal, the sample signal having a given phase;
- and
- a calibration enable input to receive a calibration enable signal, the calibration enable signal placing the timing reference control circuit in one of a calibration mode or a receiver mode;
- wherein in the calibration mode, the sample signal phase is adjusted based on output from the receiver;
- and
- wherein in the receiver mode, the sample signal phase is not adjusted based on output from the receiver.
