Mobile radio communication devices and methods for controlling a mobile radio communication device

A mobile radio communication device, comprising:

• a cognitive pilot channel receiver configured to receive cognitive pilot channel information via a predefined physical radio channel;
• a determination circuit configured to determine as to whether a predefined receiving criterion of the receiving of radio signals is fulfilled;
• and
• a cognitive pilot channel receiver activator configured to activate the cognitive pilot channel receiver based on whether the predefined receiving criterion of the receiving of radio signals is fulfilled or not;
• wherein the determination circuit is configured to determine as to whether a predefined receiving criterion relating to the receiving quality of the received radio signals is fulfilled;
• and
• wherein the cognitive pilot channel receiver activator is configured to activate the cognitive pilot channel receiver based on whether the receiving quality of the received radio signals is lower than a predefined receiving quality threshold.

A mobile radio communication device, comprising:

• a cognitive pilot channel receiver configured to receive cognitive pilot channel information via a predefined physical radio channel;
• a determination circuit configured to determine as to whether a predefined receiving criterion of the receiving of radio signals is fulfilled;
• a cognitive pilot channel receiver activator configured to activate the cognitive pilot channel receiver based on whether the predefined receiving criterion of the receiving of radio signals is fulfilled or not;
• and
• a radio communication protocol controller configured to provide at least one radio communication protocol of at least one radio communication technology of at least one radio communication technology family selected from a plurality of different radio communication technology families.
