Abstract
A novel garden bean cultivar, designated H37111, is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of garden bean cultivar H37111, to the plants of garden bean line H37111 and to methods for producing a bean plant by crossing the cultivar H37111 with itself or another bean line. The invention further relates to methods for producing a bean plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic plants produced by that method and to methods for producing other garden bean lines derived from the cultivar H37111.
Claims20
A seed of bean cultivar designated H37111, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar has been deposited under NCIMB No. 41719.
A bean plant, or a part thereof, having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of bean cultivar H37111 listed in Table 1.
A bean plant, or a part thereof, having the physiological and morphological characteristics of bean cultivar H37111, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar has been deposited under NCIMB No. 41719.
A method of introducing a desired trait into bean cultivar H37111 comprising:
- (a) crossing a bean cultivar H37111 plant grown from bean cultivar H37111 seed, wherein a representative sample of seed has been deposited under NCIMB No. 41719, with another bean plant that comprises a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of insect resistance, disease resistance, water stress tolerance, heat tolerance, improved shelf life, and improved nutritional quality;
- (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have the desired trait;
- (c) backcrossing the selected progeny plants with bean cultivar H37111 to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of bean cultivar H37111 listed in Table 1;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times in succession to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of bean cultivar H37111 listed in Table 1.
