Abstract
Maize plants with reduced gene silencing are disclosed.
Claims6
A method for reducing or mitigating gene silencing of a transgene, comprising:
- providing a transgenic plant with a transgene;
- and
- introducing a recombinant nucleic acid to said plant, wherein said recombinant nucleic acid comprises a nucleic acid in an antisense orientation wherein the sense orientation of said nucleic acid encodes the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein said antisense nucleic acid reduces expression of the encoded SEQ ID NO:
- 1 polypeptide, and
- wherein the level of expression of said transgene is increased relative to the level of expression of said transgene in a transgenic plant that does not contain said recombinant nucleic acid.
A method for reducing or mitigating gene silencing of a transgene, comprising:
- providing a transgenic plant with a transgene;
- and
- introducing a recombinant nucleic acid to said plant, wherein said recombinant nucleic acid comprises an RNA interference (RNAi) construct comprising at least a fragment of 20 contiguous nucleotides of a nucleic acid that encodes the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein said RNAi construct reduces expression of the encoded SEQ ID NO:
- 1 polypeptide, and
- wherein the level of expression of said transgene is increased relative to the level of expression of said transgene in a transgenic plant that does not contain said recombinant nucleic acid.
A transgenic plant comprising a recombinant nucleic acid including a nucleic acid in an antisense orientation wherein the sense orientation of said nucleic acid encodes the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, and wherein said antisense nucleic acid reduces expression of the encoded SEQ ID NO:
- 1 polypeptide.
A transgenic plant comprising a recombinant nucleic acid including an RNA interference (RNAi) construct comprising at least a fragment of 20 contiguous nucleotides of a nucleic acid that encodes the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein said RNAi construct reduces expression of the encoded SEQ ID NO:
- 1 polypeptide.
