Abstract
The present invention is a method for increasing serotonin activity in mammary glands such that involution of milk secretion of the same mammary glands occurs. The present invention further is a composition that can be implanted, or infused into the mammary glands to cause involution of milk secretion.
Claims4
A method for increasing involution of milk secretion from one or more mammary glands, the method being comprised of:
- increasing serotonin activity in one or more mammary glands by introduction of compounds via infusion, implantation, or a combination thereof to a subject in need of involution of milk secretion;
- wherein the serotonin activity is increased by a serotonin-selective reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) in the form of sertraline.
