- selecting an amblyopic human patient who has passed the critical period of postnatal visual development, and subsequently
- administering to the said amblyopic human who has passed the critical period of postnatal visual development an effective amount of at least one monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), tricyclic antidepressant, serotonin selective reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), norepinephrine selective reuptake inhibitor (NSRI), or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), wherein said administration is combined with a rehabilitation treatment for amblyopia.
A method for treating or alleviating amblyopia in a human, comprising
- selecting an amblyopic human patient who has passed the critical period of postnatal visual development, and subsequently
- administering to the said amblyopic human who has passed the critical period of postnatal visual development an effective amount of at least one compound demonstrated to increase the levels of Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the cerebral cortex, wherein said administration is combined with a rehabilitation treatment for amblyopia.
A method for treating or alleviating amblyopia in a human, comprising
- administering to a human suffering from amblyopia, who has passed the critical period of postnatal visual development, an effective amount of at least one compound demonstrated to increase the levels of Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the cerebral cortex, and
- providing said human with means which supports or encourages use of the amblyopic eye.
A method for treating or alleviating amblyopia in a human, comprising
