Abstract
Provided is a composition comprising (a) at least one halogenated compound selected from the group consisting of C3-C5 hydrofluoroolefin, CF3I, and combinations thereof, and (b) an effective stabilizing amount of a sesquiterpene selected from the group consisting of farnesol, farnesene, and mixtures thereof.
Claims5
A composition consisting essentially of about 95 to about 99.9 weight percent HFO-1234yf and about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent farnesene.
A method for chemically stabilizing a refrigerant composition comprising HFO-1234yf comprising:
- mixing HFO-1234yf with farnesene to form a mixture consisting essentially of about 95 to about 99.9 weight percent HFO-1234yf and about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent farnesene.
A method for chemically stabilizing a solvent comprising HFO-1234yf comprising the steps of:
- a. mixing HFO-1234yf with farnesene to form a mixture consisting essentially of about 95 to about 99.9 weight percent HFO-1234yf and about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent farnesene;
- and
- b. increasing the temperature of the solvent to at least 50° C.
