Abstract
A process for producing water-absorbing polymer particles by neutralizing the monomer and cooling it by means of an indirect heat exchanger, wherein the specific cooling performance of the heat exchanger is less than 10 W/m2.
Claims13
A process for producing water-absorbing polymer particles by polymerizing a monomer solution comprising
- a) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer bearing acid groups,
- b) at least one crosslinker,
- c) at least one initiator,
- d) optionally one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with the monomer a) and
- e) optionally one or more water-soluble polymer, by at least partially neutralizing the monomer a) and removing a heat of neutralization at least partially using an indirect heat exchanger using a cooling medium, wherein a specific cooling performance of the heat exchanger is less than 10 W/cm2.
