Abstract
This invention relates to an elastomeric article with improved lubricity and donnablity and reduced stickiness/tackiness. According to the methods of the invention, the internal surface of the elastomeric article is coated with a polyisoprene coating. The coating of the invention is formed from synthetic polyisoprene rubber that may or may not contain minor amounts of other components. The coating is preferably directly bonded to the underlying elastomeric article.
Claims15
An elastomeric rubber article having inner and outer surfaces, wherein the elastomeric rubber article is formed from a layer of elastomer selected from the group consisting of synthetic polyisoprene, polychloroprene, nitrile, carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, butadiene co-polymer, polyurethane, vinyl, and mixtures thereof, wherein at least a portion of the inner surface is coated with a coating comprising a synthetic polyisoprene rubber, wherein the coating has a thickness that is less than one tenth of the thickness of the layer of elastomer, wherein the coating provided on at least a portion of the inner surface remains in continuous contact with a user's skin while the elastomeric article is being used, and wherein the coating of synthetic polyisoprene rubber is treated with a lubricant solution.
An elastomeric rubber article having inner and outer surfaces, wherein the elastomeric rubber article is formed from a layer of elastomer selected from the group consisting of synthetic polyisoprene, polychloroprene, nitrile, carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, butadiene co-polymer, polyurethane, vinyl, and mixtures thereof, wherein at least a portion of the inner surface is coated with a coating comprising a synthetic polyisoprene rubber, wherein the coating has a thickness that is less than one tenth of the thickness of the layer of elastomer, wherein the coating provided on at least a portion of the inner surface remains in continuous contact with a user's skin while the elastomeric article is being used, and wherein the coating comprising the synthetic polyisoprene rubber has protrusions made of the synthetic polyisoprene rubber and are in the range of 0.5 microns to 10 microns.
An elastomeric rubber article selected from the group consisting of a medical glove, condoms, a dental dam, and a finger cot, wherein the elastomeric rubber article has inner and outer surfaces, wherein the elastomeric rubber article is formed from a layer of elastomer selected from the group consisting of synthetic polyisoprene, polychloroprene, nitrile, carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, butadiene co-polymer, polyurethane, vinyl, and mixtures thereof, wherein at least a portion of the inner surface is coated with a coating comprising a synthetic polyisoprene rubber, wherein the coating has a thickness that is less than one tenth of the thickness of the layer of elastomer, and wherein the coating provided on at least a portion of the inner surface remains in continuous contact with a user's skin while the elastomeric article is being used.
