Abstract
Articles prepared with a pressure sensitive adhesive prepared by combining an acrylic polymer and a silane-functional polymer, such as glass and plastic laminates, show improved impact resistance.
Claims21
A high impact resistant article comprising a breakable substrate bonded to a flexible substrate,
- wherein the breakable substrate is bonded to the flexible substrate using a pressure sensitive adhesive prepared by combining a nonsilylated acrylic polymer and a silane-functional polymer,
- wherein the silane-functional polymer is a silane-terminated polyurethane prepared from polyoxyalkylene diol, polyoxyalkylene triol, polycaprolactone diol or polycaprolactone triols;
- and said silane-terminated polyurethane has a glass transition temperature of below −20° C.
A pressure sensitive adhesive prepared by combining an acrylic polymer and a silane-functional polymer
- wherein the silane-functional polymer is a polyurethane prepared from polyoxyalkylene diol, polyoxyalkylene triol, polycaprolactone diol or polycaprolactone triol;
- and said silane-terminated polyurethane has a glass transition temperature of below −20° C. and contains
- —Si(CxH2x+1)n(OCyH2y+1)3−n end groups where n is 0, 1 or 2, and x and y are independently integral numbers from 0 to 12 and
- wherein the acrylic polymer contains no silyl functional groups.
A pressure sensitive adhesive prepared by combining a nonsilylated acrylic polymer and a silane functional polymer wherein the silane functional polymer is a silane-terminated polyurethane prepared from polyoxyalkylene diol, polyoxyalkylene triol, polycaprolactone diol or polycaprolactone triol;
- and silane-terminated polyurethane has a glass transition temperature of below −20° C.
