Abstract
This invention discloses methods and apparatus for providing a biomedical device, such as an ophthalmic lens with an energy receptor capable of powering a processing device.
Claims12
A method of forming a soft contact lens, the method comprising:
- depositing an energy receptor capable of receiving energy via a radio wave on to one of:
- a first mold part and a second mold part, wherein together, said first mold part and said second mold comprise a polyolefin and form a mold system for forming the contact lens, and wherein the energy received via a radio wave is suitable for operating a processing device;
- prior to the step of depositing a reactive monomer mixture into one of:
- the first mold part and the second mold part, depositing a binder layer onto one of the first mold part and the second mold part;
- placing the energy receptor onto the binder layer, thereby binding the energy receptor to the binder layer
- depositing a reactive monomer mix into to one of:
- the first mold part and the second mold part, wherein said reactive monomer mix comprises a silicone-containing component;
- positioning the first mold part proximate to the second mold part thereby forming a lens cavity with the energy receptor and at least some of reactive monomer mix in the lens cavity;
- exposing the reactive monomer mix to actinic radiation and
- placing a processor onto the binder layer, wherein the energy receptor is separate from the processor.
