Apparatus for manufacturing carbon nanotubes

An apparatus for manufacturing carbon nanotubes, the apparatus comprising:

• an observation device comprising an observation tube, an observation window arranged on a top of the observation tube, a first half-reflecting, pellicle mirror installed at a 45° angle in the observation tube, and a second half-reflecting, pellicle mirror installed parallel to the first half-reflecting, pellicle mirror, wherein the observation window, the first half-reflecting, pellicle mirror and the second half-reflecting, pellicle mirror are aligned on an axis of the observation tube;
• a work stage disposed under and separated a certain distance from the observation tube;
• a laser device arranged perpendicularly to the observation device and optically directed at the first half-reflecting, pellicle mirror;
• a lighting device arranged perpendicularly to the observation device and optically directed at the second half-reflecting, pellicle mirror;
• and
• a substrate coated with a catalyst layer and located on the work stage, wherein the catalyst layer comprises a carbonaceous material, wherein the catalyst layer is configured to grow carbon nanotubes by heating the substrate locally and the observation device is configured to observe the carbon nanotubes during the growth process.

An apparatus for manufacturing carbon nanotubes, the apparatus comprising:

• an observation device comprising an observation tube, an observation window arranged on a top of the observation tube, a first half-reflecting, pellicle mirror installed at a 45° angle in the observation tube, and a second half-reflecting, pellicle mirror installed parallel to the first half-reflecting, pellicle mirror;
• a work stage disposed under and separated a certain distance from the observation tube;
• a laser device arranged perpendicular to the observation device and optically directed at the first half-reflecting, pellicle mirror;
• a lighting device arranged perpendicularly to the observation device and optically directed at the second half-reflecting, pellicle mirror;
• and
• a substrate coated with a catalyst layer and located on the work stage, wherein the catalyst layer comprises a carbonaceous material, and the laser device is configured to heat the catalyst layer comprises a carbonaceous material, and the laser device is configured to locally heat the catalyst layer located on the work stage to grow the carbon nanotubes and the observation device is configured to observe the carbon nanotubes during the growth process.
