Abstract
The present invention provides methods of using compounds of formula I: and salts and prodrugs thereof, wherein n, R1 and R2 are defined herein. The invention also provides certain novel compounds of formula I and pharmaceutical compositions comprising them.

A compound of formula IA:
- wherein:
- n is an integer from 1 to 5;
- each R1 is independently a moiety of the formula —C(O)—R8, —OR7 or —C(O)—O—R3;
- R2 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl;
- R3 is hydrogen, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl or an aryl;
- R7 is an aryl;
- and
- R8 is a cycloalkyl or an aryl.

A pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier and a compound of formula IA or a salt thereof:
- wherein:
- n is an integer from 1 to 5;
- each R1 is independently a moiety of the formula —C(O)—R8, —OR7 or —C(O)—O—R3;
- R2 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl;
- R3 is hydrogen, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl or an aryl;
- R7 is an aryl;
- and
- R8 is a cycloalkyl or an aryl.
