Abstract
A binder composition and asphalt mixture that are suitably used to prepare asphalt pavements are disclosed. The binder composition comprises a resin of vegetable origin, an oil of vegetable origin and a polymer, and the polymer comprises functional groups chosen from carboxylic acid anhydride, carboxylic acid and epoxide groups.

A binder composition comprising a resin of vegetable origin, an oil of vegetable origin and a polymer, wherein the amount of resin is in the range of greater than 20 wt % to less than 95 wt %, the amount of oil is in the range of greater than 10 wt % to less than 90 wt % and the amount of polymer is in the range of greater than 0.1 wt % to less than 10 wt %, wherein all weight percentages are based upon the weight of the binder composition, and wherein the polymer comprises functional groups selected from the group consisting of carboxylic acid anhydride, carboxylic acid and epoxide groups.
