Semiconductor wafer holder and electroplating system for plating a semiconductor wafer

A method for electroplating a wafer, the method comprising:

• transferring, by a wafer transfer robot, a wafer from a cassette to a wafer loading/unloading unit;
• loading the wafer in a wafer holder including a first holding member having a first conductive element and a second holding member having a second conductive element, the first and second holding members holding the wafer therebetween, wherein the first conductive element is configured to supply electricity to the second conductive element and the second conductive element is configured to supply the electricity from the first conductive element to the wafer held between the first holding member and the second holding member;
• transferring, by a holder transfer robot, the wafer holder holding the wafer to a plating bath configured to accommodate the wafer holder holding the wafer vertically;
• immersing the wafer held vertically by the wafer holder into a solution in the plating bath;
• and
• electroplating an exposed surface of a side of the wafer by supplying electricity, via the first and second conductive elements, between the exposed surface of the wafer and an anode in the solution.
