Abstract
A datagram relaying apparatus includes a plurality of protocol terminating units, and a destination determining processor. The destination determining processor includes a path selecting section which determines a transfer destination route for a stream of packets received from any of the protocol terminating units. The path selecting section determines whether or not transfer of the received stream of packets to the transfer destination route is in an inhibition state, and selects another transfer destination route when the transfer of the packet to the transfer destination route is in the inhibition state.
Claims20
A network device comprising:
- a plurality of first terminating units to receive a plurality of datagrams;
- a destination determining unit including:
- one or more devices to determine, for the plurality of datagrams, a first identifier identifying a plurality of candidate destination routes, in a network, for each of the plurality of datagrams,
- one or more devices to determine, for the plurality of datagrams, a second identifier identifying a particular stream with which each of the plurality of datagrams is associated,
- one or more devices to allocate, based on the first and second identifiers, a first destination route, of the plurality of candidate destination routes, to a first datagram of the plurality of datagrams,
- one or more devices to determine that the first destination route is in an inhibition state, and
- one or more devices to allocate, based on the first and second identifiers and the inhibition state, a second destination route, of the plurality of candidate destination routes, to the first datagram without changing at least one of the first or second identifiers;
- and
- a plurality of second terminating units to transfer the first datagram from the network device to a node, in the network, associated with the second destination route.
A method performed in a network device, comprising:
- receiving, at a plurality of first terminating units, a plurality of datagrams;
- performing, by one or more components of the network device, a transfer destination determining process by:
- determining, for the plurality of datagrams, a first identifier identifying a plurality of candidate destination routes, in a network, for each of the plurality of datagrams,
- determining, for the plurality of datagrams, a second identifier identifying a particular stream with which each of the plurality of datagrams is associated,
- allocating, based on the first identifier and the second identifier, a first destination route, of the plurality of candidate destination routes, to a first datagram of the plurality of datagrams, and
- allocating a second destination route, of the plurality of candidate destination routes, without changing at least one of the first identifier or the second identifier;
- and
- transferring, by a plurality of second terminating units, the first datagram from the network device to a node, in the network, associated with the second destination route and not the first destination route.
A method performed in a network device, the method comprising:
- performing, by one or more components of the network device, an allocation changing process by:
- determining that an inhibition state exists in a first destination route, of a plurality of candidate destination routes, allocated to a datagram received at the network device based on a first identifier, identifying the plurality of candidate destination routes, and a second identifier, identifying a particular stream, of a plurality of streams of datagrams in a network, with which the datagram is associated, and
- allocating, based on the first identifier, the second identifier, and the inhibition state, a second destination route, of the plurality of candidate destination routes, without changing the first identifier or the second identifier of the datagram.
