The present invention relates to a process for preparing crystalline quetiapine hemifumarate, which comprises crystallizing or re-crystallizing quetiapine hemifumarate from a mixture of water and a water soluble alcohol.

A process for preparing crystalline quetiapine hemifumarate, which comprises crystallizing or re-crystallizing quetiapine hemifumarate from a mixture of water and a water soluble alcohol, wherein the mixture of water and the water-soluble alcohol comprises water and alcohol in a ratio from 35:65 to 15:85.
