Method and system for tracking and managing animals and/or food products

The method according to 11 wherein requesting a trace report from a data trustee comprises:

• determining an animal identifier for the diseased animal;
• performing a data look-up in a public sector database to retrieve a data record address that stores diseased animal data;
• and
• retrieving the diseased animal data from the data trustee using the data record address.

A method for tracking animals, comprising:

• receiving a group of animals;
• entering information relating to the group of animals into a computer system;
• entering into the computer system a group identifier for the group of animals enabling the computer system to distinguish animals in the group of animals from animals in every other group;
• entering into the computer system location data for the group of animals for a location or locations occupied by the group of animals;
• correlating in the computer system the location data for the group of animals with the group identifier for the group of animals;
• filtering confidential information from data entered into the computer system, wherein the confidential information includes at least one previous location identifier;
• and
• allowing a user to review a filtered record for the group of animals that includes a present location identifier for a present location of the group of animals and that the group of animals occupied at least one previous location without disclosing the at least one previous location identifier.
