Abstract
A structure constructed from plastic may include may include one or more reinforcing portions that are sized and configured to prevent damage to the structure. For example, the structure may be a table top constructed from blow-molded plastic and the table top may include a body with one or more corners. The corners may include an interior portion and an exterior portion, and reinforcement portions may be sized and configured to help prevent damage to the corners of the table top. In addition, one or more depressions may be at least partially disposed within the reinforcement portions, if desired. The reinforcement portions, for example, may include one or more inwardly and/or outwardly extending portions.

A table top constructed from blow-molded plastic, the table top comprising:
- a body including a hollow interior portion formed during the blow-molding process, the body including an upper portion that is generally spaced apart from a lower portion, at least a portion of the upper portion of the body having a generally planar surface;
- a lip extending outwardly relative to the lower portion of the body, the lip being integrally formed with the body as part of a unitary, one-piece construction during the blow-molding process, the lip including an interior portion disposed towards an interior portion of the table top, an exterior portion disposed towards an exterior portion of the table top and a hollow interior portion disposed between the interior portion and the exterior portion of the lip, the lip including an outwardly extending protrusion having an at least substantially solid construction;
- at least one corner formed by at least a portion of the lip, the corner including an interior portion disposed towards the interior portion of the table top and an exterior portion disposed towards the exterior portion of the table top;
- and
- at least one corner reinforcing portion that is sized and configured to help prevent damage to the corner, the corner reinforcing portion including at least one portion formed in the interior portion of the corner and at least one portion formed in the lower portion of the body;
- wherein the protrusion, the interior portion of the lip, the exterior portion of the lip and the hollow interior portion of the lip are integrally formed with the body as part of the unitary, one-piece structure during the blow-molding process.
A table top constructed from blow-molded plastic, the table top comprising:
- a body including a hollow interior portion formed during a blow-molding process, the body including an upper portion and a lower portion;
- a corner that is integrally formed in the body as part of a unitary, one-piece construction during the blow-molding process, the corner including an interior portion disposed towards an interior portion of the table top, an exterior portion disposed towards an exterior portion of the table top and a hollow interior portion disposed between the interior portion and the exterior portion of the corner;
- and
- a corner reinforcing portion that is integrally formed in the corner as part of the unitary, one-piece construction during the blow-molding process, the corner reinforcing portion comprising:
- a first portion at least generally disposed proximate the upper portion of the body;
- and
- a second portion at least generally disposed in the interior portion of the corner;
- wherein a protrusion, the interior portion of the corner, the exterior portion of the corner and the hollow interior portion of the corner are integrally formed as part of the unitary, one-piece construction during the blow-molding process.
A table comprising:
- a blow-molded plastic table top including a generally downwardly extending lip, the lip comprising:
- an interior portion disposed towards an interior portion of the table top;
- an exterior portion disposed towards an outer portion of the table top;
- a hollow portion at least substantially disposed between the interior portion and the exterior portion;
- and
- an outwardly extending protrusion having an at least substantially solid construction, the interior portion, the exterior portion, the hollow portion and the protrusion being integrally formed as part of a unitary, one-piece structure;
- a reinforcement portion disposed at least proximate the lip, the reinforcement portion being integrally formed as part of the unitary, one-piece structure, the reinforcement portion being sized and configured to help prevent damage to the lip of the table top;
- and
- at least one leg that is connected to the table top, the leg being sized and configured to support the table top above a support surface.
A blow-molded plastic table top comprising:
- an upper surface of the table top;
- a lower surface of the table top;
- a hollow interior portion that is at least partially disposed between the upper surface and the lower surface of the table top, the upper surface, the lower surface and the hollow interior portion of the table top being integrally formed as part of a unitary, one-piece structure;
- and
- a lip extending downwardly relative to the lower surface of the table top, the lip including an inner surface disposed towards an inner portion of the table top and an outer surface disposed towards an outer portion of the table top, the lip including a first portion with a hollow interior portion that is at least partially disposed between the inner surface and the outer surface, the lip including a second portion with an at least substantially solid construction, the first portion and the second portion of the lip being integrally formed with the table top as part of the unitary, one-piece structure.
A table top constructed from molded plastic, the table top comprising:
- a body including an upper surface, a lower surface and a hollow interior portion that are integrally formed during the molding process as part of a unitary, one-piece construction;
- a corner integrally formed with the body as part of the unitary, one-piece construction during the molding process, the corner including an interior portion disposed towards the table top, an exterior portion disposed outwardly from the table top and a hollow interior portion disposed between the interior portion and the exterior portion of the corner;
- a first corner reinforcing portion that is sized and configured to help prevent damage to the corner, the first corner reinforcing portion being integrally formed as part of the unitary, one-piece construction during the molding process, the first corner reinforcing portion comprising:
- a first portion disposed in the lower surface of the body;
- a second portion disposed in the interior portion of the corner, the first portion and the second portion being generally aligned along an axis;
- and
- two or more depressions at least substantially disposed in the first corner reinforcing portion.
