Abstract
A process for modifying at least one dendron that is intended to form part of a dendrimer is disclosed. One reacts at least one reactable unsaturated group in a chemoselective manner to form a less unsaturated group. Also disclosed is a process for modifying dendrimers in a similar manner.
Claims7
An organometallic dendrimer with a metal cation as part of its core and at least one dendron which comprises the structure:
- wherein Y is oxygen in which case —Z1-Z2— represents N═CR1—, or Y is —N—R2 in which case —Z1-Z2— forms part of a benzene ring or —N═CR1—, R1 represents an optionally substituted benzene radical and R2 represents an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group, wherein the dendron is connected via an ethylene, substituted ethylene, vinylene or acetylenyl group of the core.
An organometallic dendrimer with a metal cation as part of its core wherein the core is attached directly to the first branching group of at least one dendron by an ethylene or substituted ethylene group.
