A wear and impact resistant liner component for use in mining and quarrying industries comprising a rubber matrix rigidly supported on a flat steel plate, said rubber matrix including a plurality of steel strips spaced apart approximately parallel from each other, wherein the steel strips extend substantially perpendicular to the flat steel plate and substantially, but not completely, through the rubber matrix.
