Abstract
An apparatus comprising a radiation source, coincident positron emission detectors configured to detect coincident positron annihilation emissions originating within a coordinate system, and a controller coupled to the radiation source and the coincident positron emission detectors, the controller configured to identify coincident positron annihilation emission paths intersecting one or more volumes in the coordinate system and align the radiation source along an identified coincident positron annihilation emission path.

An apparatus comprising:
- a circular rotatable gantry;
- a radiation source mounted along a circumferential length of the gantry;
- positron emission detectors mounted along at least a circumferential length of the rotatable gantry, wherein the positron emission detectors are configured to detect a positron emission path originating from a location within a coordinate system;
- and
- a controller in communication with the radiation source and the positron emission detectors, the controller configured to rotate the gantry to align the radiation source with the positron emission path before the location substantially changes its position within the coordinate system.

A method comprising:
- detecting an individual positron emission path originating from a location within a coordinate system, wherein the individual emission path is detected by positron emission detectors mounted along at least a circumferential length of a circular gantry;
- rotating the circular gantry such that a radiation source mounted along a circumferential length of the gantry is aligned with the individual emission path;
- and
- applying radiation along the individual emission path before the location substantially changes its position within the coordinate system.
