A pharmaceutical composition comprising dextromethorphan hydrochloride having the structure:
- wherein the dextromethorphan hydrochloride is non-radioactive, wherein the said dextromethorphan hydrochloride is in immediate release form;
- and wherein the pharmaceutical composition is free or essentially free of bromide.
