DTV television transmitter/receiver and method of processing data in DTV transmitter/receiver

A method of processing broadcast data in a digital broadcast transmitter, the method comprising:

• converting enhanced data bytes into bit units via a byte-bit converter;
• outputting enhanced data bits via the byte-bit converter;
• encoding the enhanced data bits, via an encoder, at a code rate of 1/H, wherein H is an integer greater than 1;
• deinterleaving enhanced data corresponding to the encoded enhanced data bits via a deinterleaver;
• Reed-Solomon (RS) encoding the deinterleaved enhanced data, via an RS encoder, by adding parity data to the deinterleaved enhanced data;
• and
• interleaving the RS-encoded deinterleaved enhanced data via an interleaver,
• wherein an output of the interleaver includes a first data group including rows having a length of 207 bytes,
• wherein an ith row in the first data group has N consecutive MPEG header bytes,
• wherein an input of the interleaver includes a second data group including rows having a length of 207 bytes,
• wherein a jth row in the second data group has M consecutive MPEG header bytes, and
• wherein N>M and i, j, M and N are integers greater than 1.
