Communicating data using wideband communications

A method for communicating data, the method comprising:

• identifying frequencies in a wideband communication channel that require reduced emissions, wherein the wideband communication channel is over a transmission path which includes:
• a transmission medium other than a copper telephone wire, a termination of a copper telephone wire at an access point at a user premise, and the copper telephone wire at the user premise;
• and
• applying a digital frequency-domain filter to a transmitted signal to reduce the emissions of the identified frequencies.

A system for communicating data, comprising:

• a first transmitter on a first channel;
• and
• a second transmitter on a second channel, wherein the first transmitter is structured and arranged to detect a state of communications by the second transmitter over the second channel and to synchronize transmissions by the first transmitter with transmissions by the second transmitter based on the state detected, wherein the first channel and the second channel are included in a transmission path which includes:
• a transmission medium other than a copper telephone wire, a termination of a copper telephone wire at an access point at a user premise, and the copper telephone wire at the user premise.
