Abstract
Disclosed is a method for preparing polyolefins containing vinylidine end groups from quasiliving carbocationically terminated polyolefin polymers by contacting the quasiliving carbocationically terminated polymer with a suitable nonaromatic heterocyclic ring quenching agent and substituted derivatives thereof.
Claims48
A method for producing a vinylidene terminated polymer comprising:
- a. providing a liquid phase quasiliving carbocationic polyolefin polymerization system;
- b. contacting the liquid phase quasiliving carbocationic polyolefin polymerization system in step a) in situ with at least one quenching agent selected from the group consisting of substituted morpholine, substituted thiomorpholine, substituted phenothiazine, provided that the substituted morpholine is not 4-methylmorpholine;
- and substituted or unsubstituted dihydrobenzo[1,4]oxazine, dihydro[1,4]thiazine and phenoxazine.
