Abstract
The present invention relates to enzymic processes for preparing S-butan-2-ol; and to enzymes for carrying out said processes; to nucleic acid sequences coding for said enzymes, to expression cassettes, vectors and recombinant hosts containing said nucleic acid sequences.
Claims7
A process for preparing (S)-butan-2-ol, wherein the process comprises reducing butan-2-one in the presence of an alcohol dehydrogenase comprising:
- (i) the polypeptide sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2, or
- (ii) a polypeptide sequence which is at least 95% identical to the sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2, wherein the reduction is carried out using NADH or NADPH as a cofactor.
