Abstract
A liquid crystal display device includes a TFT substrate and a CF substrate arranged to face each other and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched therebetween, wherein a plurality of first supports are arranged to extend from one of the substrates to reach the other substrate and a plurality of second supports, which are shorter than the first supports, are arranged to extend from one of the substrates to the other substrate.

A liquid crystal display device comprising:
- a first substrate;
- a second substrate arranged to face the first substrate;
- a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrates;
- a plurality of first supports arranged to extend from one of the first substrate and the second substrates to reach the other one of the first substrate and the second substrate;
- and
- a plurality of second supports, which are shorter than the plurality of first supports, arranged to extend from one of the first substrate and the second substrates to the other of the first substrate and the second substrates;
- wherein
- a number of the plurality of second supports is larger than a number of the plurality of the first supports;
- a gap between the plurality of second supports and an opposing one of the first substrate and the second substrate is about 0.06 or more times and about 0.2 or less times a thickness of the liquid crystal layer;
- and
- at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate has a thickness of about 0.5 mm or less.
