Abstract
Low field SQUID MRI devices, components and methods are disclosed. They include a portable low field (SQUID)-based MRI instrument and a portable low field SQUID-based MRI system to be operated under a bed where a subject is adapted to be located. Also disclosed is a method of distributing wires on an image encoding coil system adapted to be used with an NMR or MRI device for analyzing a sample or subject and a second order superconducting gradiometer adapted to be used with a low field SQUID-based MRI device as a sensing component for an MRI signal related to a subject or sample.
Claims2
A low field superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID)-based magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device, comprising:
- a sensing coil assembly to sense an MRI signal from a subject or sample;
- a SQUID connected to the sensing coil assembly;
- and
- a polarization coil assembly, wherein geometry and location of the polarization coil assembly with respect to the sensing coil assembly is selected to limit current input to the SQUID by compensating a magnetic flux output by the sensing coil assembly and the polarization coil assembly comprises a larger polarization coil and a smaller polarization coil connected in series, the larger polarization coil being farther from the sensing coil assembly than the smaller polarization coil.
