Abstract
Biocompatible, bioresorbable polymers comprising a plurality of monomeric repeating units containing an amide group, wherein said amide groups are N-substituted and the N-substituent and degree of N-substitution are effective to lower the melt viscosity, the solution viscosity, or both, compared to the same polymer without N-substitution.
Claims5
N-substituted diphenol compounds having the structure:
- wherein X1 and X2 are each I;
- y1 and y2 are each independently zero or an integer in the range of 1 to 4, and R1 is selected from the group consisting of substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched aliphatic groups containing up to 48 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted aromatic groups containing up to 48 carbon atoms, and substituted or unsubstituted araliphatic groups containing up to 48 carbon atoms in which the aliphatic portions are straight chain or branched and saturated or unsaturated, wherein R1 contains from 2 to 8 heteroatoms selected from O, S and N, in which two of the heteroatoms form an amide group that is N-substituted with a C1-C6 alkyl group.
