Abstract
Rubber composition, which can be used for the manufacture of tires, based on at least one diene elastomer, one reinforcing filler, one vulcanization system and one maleimide compound, characterized in that the said maleimide compound is a polymaleimide of formula: in which: R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different hydrocarbon radicals, n is equal to 0 or 1 with X being a nitrogen atom if n=0 and X being a carbon or silicon atom if n=1. Use of such a composition for the manufacture of a finished article or of a semi-finished product made of rubber intended for a motor vehicle ground-contact system, in particular of a tire.
Claims35
A rubber composition which can be used for the manufacture of tires based on at least one diene elastomer, one reinforcing filler, one sulphur-based vulcanization system and one maleimide compound, wherein the said maleimide compound is a polymaleimide of formula:
- wherein:
- R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different hydrocarbon-containing radicals,
- n is equal to 0 or 1 with X being a nitrogen atom if n=0 and X being a carbon or silicon atom if n=1.
A process for preparing a rubber composition which can be used for the manufacture of tires and which exhibits an improved resistance to reversion, this composition being based on a diene elastomer, at least one reinforcing filler, and a sulphur-based vulcanization system, wherein the process comprises:
- incorporating the at least one reinforcing filler in the diene elastomer during a first “non-productive” stage to form a first combined mixture, comprising kneading the first combined mixture thermomechanically, in one or more goes, until a maximum temperature of between 110° C. and 190° C. is reached;
- cooling the first combined mixture to a temperature of less than 100° C.;
- subsequently incorporating the sulphur-based vulcanization system during a second “productive” stage to form a second combined mixture;
- kneading the second combined mixture until a maximum temperature of less than 110° C. is reached,
- wherein a polymaleimide compound of formula:
- wherein:
- R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different hydrocarbon-containing radicals,
- n is equal to 0 or 1 with X being a nitrogen atom if n=0 and X being a carbon or silicon atom if n=1,
- is additionally incorporated during any one of the stages of the process.
