Abstract
The invention involves a submucosa tissue that has the capability of being shape formed or shape configured. The submucosa involves a purified form of submucosa tissue. Optionally, the submucosa can be packaged in such a manner to permit sterility or maintain sterility of the submucosa.
Claims21
A method for forming a collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device, comprising:
- providing a material including comminuted submucosa fragments and water, wherein said submucosa retains at least one biotropic agent, and wherein said biotropic agent includes a growth factor;
- placing said material in a mold;
- freezing said material in the mold;
- and
- drying said material in the mold to form a dried collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device, wherein said dried collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device retains at least one growth factor of the submucosa.
2 more elements
A method for forming a collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device, comprising:
- providing a material including comminuted collagenous matrix fragments and water, said collagenous matrix obtained from a collagenous tissue source and retaining biotropic agents including a proteoglycan, a glycosaminoglycan and a growth factor from said tissue source;
- freezing said material;
- and
- drying said material to form a dried collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device, wherein said dried collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device retains at least one proteoglycan, glycosaminoglycan, and growth factor from said tissue source.
1 more element
A method for forming a collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device, comprising:
- providing a material including comminuted submucosa tissue fragments and water, wherein the submucosa tissue retains at least one biotropic agent, and wherein said biotropic agent includes a growth factor;
- centrifuging said material to remove water;
- after said centrifuging, positioning the comminuted submucosa tissue fragments in a mold;
- freezing said comminuted submucosa tissue fragments in said mold;
- and
- drying said comminuted submucosa tissue fragments in said mold to form a dried collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device, wherein said dried collagenous biomaterial medical sponge device retains at least one growth factor of the submucosa.
