Abstract
The present invention is able to print high-grade images by reducing the adverse effect of misdirection of ink in the joining portion between adjacent nozzle lines. To achieve this, an ink jet print head includes a plurality of chips in each of which adjacent nozzle lines are formed. The relative positions of the chips are set depending on the amounts of misdirection of ink ejected from overlapping nozzles in the joining portion.
Claims6
A method for positioning of an ink jet print head comprising a plurality of nozzles which are arranged in a first nozzle line and a second nozzle line and from which ink can be ejected, nozzles located on ends of the first and second nozzle lines overlapping each other in a direction crossing an arranging direction of the nozzles, wherein
- relative positions of the first and second nozzle lines are adjusted depending on an amount of relative deviation between impacting positions at which the ink ejected from the nozzles in the first and second nozzle lines impact an area on a print medium, the area corresponding to a position at which the ends of the first and second nozzle lines are located, the amount of relative deviation between the impacting positions being measured by ejecting ink from the nozzles in the first and second nozzle lines to the print medium.
A method for positioning of an ink jet print head comprising a plurality of nozzles which are arranged in a plurality of nozzle lines along a predetermined direction and from which ink can be ejected, two sets of a predetermined number of nozzles, in a joining portion of adjacent nozzle lines adjoining each other in a direction crossing the predetermined direction, overlap each other in the direction crossing the predetermined direction, wherein
- an amount of displacement of the adjacent nozzle lines in the predetermined direction is set depending on an amount of relative deviation between impacting positions at which the ink ejected from the nozzles in the joining portion of the adjacent nozzle lines impact a print medium so that an amount of relative deviation between impacting positions at which the ink ejected from the nozzles that overlap each other in the joining portion impacts is decreased, when the nozzles in the adjacent nozzle lines eject the ink so as to gradually decrease a print density of dots in a direction toward an end of the joining portion, the dots being formed using the nozzles in the joining portion of the adjacent nozzle lines, and
- the amount of displacement of the adjacent nozzle lines is set on the basis of the amount of relative deviation between impacting positions at which the ink ejected from the nozzles that overlap each other in the joining portion impacts at a print duty of 50% or lower.
