Electronic pressure regulator

A fuel supply system, comprising:

• a carburetor including a carburetor fuel inlet;
• and
• an electronic fuel pressure regulator including a regulator fuel outlet that is coupled to the carburetor fuel inlet, the electronic fuel pressure regulator comprising:
• a microprocessor operable to receive an operating pressure signal related to a fuel pressure between the regulator fuel outlet and the carburetor fuel inlet and generate an actuation signal related to the difference between the operating pressure signal and a desired pressure signal;
• an actuator that is coupled to the microprocessor and includes a rod that is operable to move along a linear axis in response to the actuator receiving the actuation signal;
• and
• a diaphragm coupled to the rod and a valve that controls the fuel pressure;
• wherein the diaphragm is operable to move the valve and control the operating pressure in response to each of (1) a differential pressure acting on the diaphragm and (2) a linear movement of the rod.

An electronic pressure regulator, comprising:

• a controller;
• a pressure sensor that is coupled to the controller and operable to provide an actual pressure signal to the controller wherein the controller is operable to generate an actuation signal related to the difference between the actual pressure signal and a desired pressure signal;
• an actuator coupled to the controller and operable to move in response to receiving the actuation signal from the controller;
• and
• a diaphragm coupled to the actuator and an outlet pressure control module;
• wherein the diaphragm moves to control the outlet pressure control module in response to each of (1) a differential pressure acting on the diaphragm and (2) movement of the actuator.
