To provide a steel-aluminum welded material and a spot welding method therefor having high weld strength. The steel-aluminum welded material 3 includes a steel material 1 and an aluminum material 2 having predetermined widths. The area of a nugget 5 of a spot-welded part is determined as a function of the thickness of the aluminum material 2, and the area of a part of the nugget 5 corresponding to a part having a thickness in a range between 0.5 and 10 μm of an interface reaction layer 6 is defined as a function of the thickness of the aluminum material 2.
A steel-aluminum welded material formed by a process comprising welding together a steel material having a thickness t1 in a range between 0.3 and 2.5 mm and an aluminum material having a thickness t2 in a range between 0.5 and 2.5 mm by spot welding and forming an interface reaction layer comprising intermetallic compounds of Al3Fe and Al19Fe4Si2Mn, wherein a nugget formed in spot welded parts has an area in a range between 20 t20.5 and 70 t20.5 mm2, and a part of each nugget in a thickness in a range between 0.5 and 10.5 μm of an interface reaction layer has an area not smaller than 10 t20.5 mm2.
