Abstract
System for drying a tissue or hygiene web. The system includes a permeable structured fabric carrying the web over a drying apparatus. A permeable dewatering fabric contacts the web and is guided over the drying apparatus. A mechanism is used to apply pressure to the permeable structured fabric, the web, and the permeable dewatering fabric at the drying apparatus. This Abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

A belt press for a paper machine, the belt press comprising:
- a roll comprising an exterior surface;
- an endlessly circulating permeable belt comprising a first side and being guided over a portion of said exterior surface of said roll;
- said permeable belt having a tension of at least approximately 30 KN/m;
- a pressing device arranged within said endlessly circulating permeable belt;
- said first side having an open area of at least approximately 25% and a contact area of at least approximately 10%,
- wherein a web travels between the permeable belt and the exterior surface of the roll.
A fibrous material drying arrangement comprising:
- an endlessly circulating permeable extended nip press (ENP) belt guided over a roll;
- said ENP belt being subjected to a tension of at least approximately 30 KN/m;
- and
- said ENP belt comprising a side having an open area of at least approximately 25% and a contact area of at least approximately 10%;
- a pressing device arranged within said ENP belt;
- a first fabric arranged between said ENP belt and a web;
- a second fabric arranged between the suction box and the web;
- and
- the first fabric having a lower compressibility than the second fabric,
- wherein a web travels between the ENP belt and the roll.
A combination of a belt press and a permeable extended nip press (ENP) belt which is capable of being subjected to a tension of at least approximately 30 KN/m, said permeable ENP belt being arranged on the belt press having a pressing device pressing against said ENP belt and multi-zone suction roll arranged on a side of said ENP belt opposite the pressing device, and said ENP belt of said combination comprising:
- at least one side comprising an open area of at least approximately 25% and a contact area of at least approximately 10%.
A belt press for a paper machine, the belt press comprising:
- a vacuum roll comprising an exterior surface and at least one suction zone;
- a permeable belt comprising a first side and being guided over a portion of said exterior surface of said vacuum roll;
- said permeable belt having a tension of at least approximately 30 KN/m;
- said first side having an open area of at least approximately 25% a contact area of at least approximately 10%;
- an upper fabric arranged between said permeable belt and a web;
- a lower fabric arranged between the vacuum roll and the web;
- the upper fabric having a lower compressibility than the lower fabric;
- and
- a pressing device pressing against said permeable belt,
- wherein a web travels between the permeable belt and the exterior surface of the roll, and
- wherein air flows in the following direction in the belt press:
- first through said permeable belt, then through the upper fabric, then through the web, then through the lower fabric and then into said vacuum roll.
A fibrous material drying arrangement comprising:
- an endlessly circulating permeable extended nip press (ENP) belt guided over a suction box;
- a pressing device arranged within said endlessly circulating permeable ENP belt;
- and
- said endlessly circulating permeable ENP belt comprising a side having an open area of at least approximately 25% and a contact area of at least approximately 10%,
- wherein a web travels between said endlessly circulating permeable ENP belt and the suction box.
A fibrous material drying arrangement comprising:
- an endlessly circulating permeable extended nip press (ENP) belt guided over a suction device;
- said endlessly circulating permeable ENP belt comprising a side having an open area of at least approximately 25% and a contact area of at least approximately 10%,
- an upper fabric arranged between said ENP belt and a web;
- a lower fabric arranged between the suction device and the web;
- and
- the upper fabric having at least one of:
- greater roughness than the lower fabric;
- and
- greater compressibility than the lower fabric,
- wherein a web travels between said endlessly circulating permeable ENP belt and the suction device, and
- wherein air flows in the following direction in the drying arrangement:
- first through said ENP belt, then through the upper fabric, then through the web, then through the lower fabric, and then into the suction device.
