A drive method of a display apparatus which displays image information based on display data, the display apparatus having a plurality of scanning lines arranged in a row direction, a plurality of data lines arranged in a column direction, and a display panel having a plurality of display pixels which are arranged in the vicinity of intersections of the plurality of scanning lines and the plurality of data lines and arranged in a matrix form, said plurality of data lines including a first data line connected to one of two display pixels in each row of two adjacent rows of a plurality of rows, and a second data line connected to the other of said two display pixels, the drive method comprising:
- sequentially setting the display pixels in each of said plurality of rows corresponding to said plurality of scanning lines in a selected state in every predetermined selection period including a first former period and a second later period, wherein the second later period of the selection period in one of the two adjacent rows of said plurality of the rows and the first former period in the other of the two adjacent rows are set to overlap periods overlapped with each other, and wherein the first former period of the selection period in one of the two adjacent rows of said plurality of the rows and the second later period in the other of the two adjacent rows are set to non-overlap periods which do not overlap with each other;
- generating, by a gradation signal generation circuit to which the display data is supplied, a signal current as a gradation signal which controls a luminance gradation of each display pixel based on the display data, and outputting the gradation signal corresponding to the pixels in each of a plurality of columns of the display panel in time-series at a timing corresponding to the first former period of the selection period in each row;
- and supplying, by each of two latch sections of each of a plurality of current holding/distributing circuits of a current write circuit, a gradation current corresponding to the gradation signal in the selection period in each row,
- wherein each of the latch sections (i) in the first former period of the selection period in each row, supplies the gradation current to the corresponding display pixel, based on the gradation signal corresponding to one of two display pixels in one row of the display pixels in said two adjacent rows, of the gradation signals output by the gradation signal generation circuit, while fetching and holding said gradation signal corresponding to another one of two display pixels, and (ii) in the second later period of the selection period, supplies the gradation current to the corresponding display pixel in another row of said two adjacent rows, based on the gradation signal held in the first former period.
