Abstract
A sheet folding apparatus includes a sheet supporting member which has an inclined surface to support a stack of sheets, a sheet position adjuster which adjusts a position of the stack of sheets along the inclined surface, a sheet pressing unit which presses the stack of sheets from a lower side of the stack of sheets to an upper side of the stack of sheet, and a folding unit which folds the stack of sheets pressed by the sheet pressing unit.
Claims12
A sheet folding apparatus comprising:
- a sheet supporting member which has an inclined surface to support a stack of sheets;
- a sheet position adjuster which adjusts a position of the stack of sheets along the inclined surface;
- a sheet pressing unit including a sheet pressure plate, which presses the stack of sheets against the inclined surface, the sheet pressure plate pressing a lower side of the stack of sheets and then an upper side of the stack of sheets after pressing the lower side of the stack of sheets;
- and
- a folding unit which folds the stack of sheets pressed by the sheet pressing unit.
A sheet folding method comprising:
- supporting a stack of sheets stacked on an inclined surface;
- adjusting a position of the stack of sheets along the inclined surface;
- pressing the stack of sheets whose position is adjusted, from a lower end side to an upper end side by using a sheet pressure member, the sheet pressure member pressing the stack of sheets by contacting a lower end thereof with the stack of sheets and then contacting an upper end thereof with the stack of sheets;
- and
- performing a saddle stitch binding process for the stack of sheets in a state where the stack of sheets is pressed.
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a printer which prints an image on a sheet;
- a sheet supporting member which has an inclined surface to support a stack of sheets including the sheet;
- a sheet position adjuster which adjusts a position of the stack of sheets along the inclined surface;
- a sheet pressing unit including a sheet pressure plate, which presses a lower side of the stack of sheets and then an upper side of the stack of sheets after pressing the lower side of the stack of sheets;
- and
- a folding unit which folds the stack of sheets pressed by the sheet pressing unit.
