Abstract
An information service apparatus provides information described in a language suitable for a user. The information service apparatus has an operation panel on which operation information on the information service apparatus is displayed: It is judged whether or not information can be provided in a language designated by discrimination information contained in a request from a terminal. When it is determined that the information in the language designated by the discrimination information cannot be provided, an operation panel language used for displaying the operation information on the operation panel is set as the language used for providing the information.

An information service apparatus comprising:
- a network interface configured to provide information to a terminal via a network in accordance with a request received from the terminal;
- an operation panel at the information service apparatus configured to display operation information corresponding to said information service apparatus;
- an interface configured to receive a selection of a language used for displaying said operation information on said operation panel;
- a language correspondence judgment part configured to judge whether the information can be provided in a language designated by discrimination information contained in the request from said terminal;
- and
- a language determination part configured to determine the language to be used in providing said information, wherein
- when said language correspondence judgment part determines that said information in the language designated by said discrimination information cannot be provided, said language determination part acquires language data corresponding to the language selected by the selection received at said interface and currently used for displaying said operation information on said operation panel and selects said acquired language data as language data of said language used for providing said information.

- a terminal connected to a network;
- and
- an information service apparatus comprising,
- a network interface configured to provide information to the terminal via a network in accordance with a request received from the terminal;
- an operation panel at the information service apparatus configured to display operation information corresponding to said information service apparatus;
- an interface configured to receive a selection of a language used for displaying the operation information on said operation panel;
- language correspondence judgment part configured to judge whether the information can be provided in a language designated by discrimination information contained in the request from said terminal;
- and
- language determination part configured to determine the language to be used in providing said information,
- wherein, when said language correspondence judgment part determines that said information in the language designated by said discrimination information cannot be provided, said language determination part acquires language data corresponding to the language selected by the selection received at the interface and currently used for displaying said operation information on said operation panel and selects said acquired language data as language data of said language used for providing said information;
- and
- said terminal displays said information in the language determined by said language determination part.

An information service method for providing information from an information service apparatus to a terminal, comprising:
- a network interface configured to provide information to a terminal via a network in accordance with a request received from the terminal;
- receiving, at an interface of the information service apparatus, a selection of a language used for displaying operation information on an operation panel of the information service apparatus;
- a language correspondence judgment procedure performed by the information service apparatus of judging whether the information can be provided in a language designated by discrimination information contained in the request from said terminal;
- and
- a language determination procedure performed by the information service apparatus of determining the language to be used in providing said information,
- wherein, when said language correspondence judgment procedure determines that said information in the language designated by said discrimination information cannot be provided, said language determination procedure acquires language data corresponding to the language selected by the received selection at the interface of the information service apparatus and currently used for displaying said operation information on said operation panel and selects said acquired language data as language data of said language used for providing said information.
