Abstract
A method of estimating a Doppler maximum frequency fd and/or a local oscillator frequency offset f0, the method comprising the steps of: computing a power density spectrum of a received radio signal over a whole frequency range, scanning the computed power density spectrum to determine a frequency sub-range [fmin; fmax] which is not necessarily centered on 0 Hz, the signal power over the sub-range [fmin; fmax] being equal to a predetermined percentage of the signal power over the whole frequency range, and estimating frequency fd and/or offset f0 from frequencies fmin and fmax.

A method of estimating a Doppler maximum frequency fd of a received radio signal due to a wireless receiver displacement, the method comprising the steps of:
- computing a power density spectrum of the received radio signal over a whole frequency range,
- scanning the computed power density spectrum to determine a frequency sub-range [fmin;
- fmax], the signal power over the sub-range [fmin;
- fmax] being equal to a predetermined percentage of the signal power over the whole frequency range, and
- estimating frequency fd from frequencies fmin and fmax, wherein the scanning step is adapted to determine a frequency sub-range [fmin;
- fmax] which is not necessarily centered on 0 Hz.
A method to estimate a frequency offset f0 of a local oscillator of a wireless radio signal receiver, the local oscillator being used to remove a carrier frequency from the received radio signal, the method comprising the steps of:
- computing a power density spectrum of the received radio signal over a whole frequency range,
- scanning the computed power density spectrum to determine a frequency sub-range [fmin;
- fmax], the signal power over the sub-range [fmin;
- fmax] being equal to a predetermined percentage of the signal power over the whole frequency range, and
- estimating offset f0 from frequencies fmin and fmax, wherein the scanning step is adapted to determine a frequency sub-range [fmin;
- fmax] which is not necessarily centered on 0 Hz.
An electronic module to estimate a Doppler maximum frequency fd in a radio signal due to a wireless receiver displacement, the module comprising:
- a computing unit to build a power density spectrum of the received radio signal over a whole frequency range,
- a scanner adapted to determine a frequency sub-range [fmin;
- fmax], the signal power in the sub-range [fmin;
- fmax] being equal to a predetermined percentage of the signal power over the whole frequency range, and
- an estimator to estimate frequency fd from frequencies fmin and fmax, wherein the scanner is adapted to determine a frequency sub-range [fmin;
- fmax] which is not necessarily centered on 0 Hz.
An electronic module to estimate a frequency offset f0 of a local oscillator of a wireless radio signal receiver, the local oscillator being used to remove a carrier frequency from the received radio signal, the module comprising:
- a computing unit to build a power density spectrum of the received signal over a whole frequency range,
- a scanner adapted to determine a frequency sub-range [fmin;
- fmax] which is not necessarily centered on 0 Hz, the signal power over the sub-range [fmin;
- fmax] being equal to a predetermined percentage of the signal power over the whole frequency range, and
- an estimator to estimate offset f0 from frequencies fmin and fmax.
